Lesson Ten of "Advanced - Stage 1" works through a review of the first stage of the Advanced Guitar Program. Single String review contains the coverage of a review through; music theory, scales and arpeggios. Music theory basics along with important terms are part of the final review requirements. Fingerboard pattern knowledge requirements will include the memorized performance of a minimum of two Major and Minor scales and arpeggios. Exercises are presented on pages 2 - 4 of the handout.

Music Theory

The Music Theory section for Project Lesson Tens Review will cover the important areas of; Chord Construction, Major and Minor key signatures, Scale Degrees, Arpeggio Degrees, and the explanation of popular musical terms. NOTE: The exercises necessary to complete for establishing an Advanced Stage 1 skill set are given on pages 4 and 5 of the handout.

Fingerboard Harmony

The Fingerboard Harmony section of Lesson Tens Review will cover both chord pattern recognition and several chord progressions for development and performance. The Lesson Ten chord review can be found on the lower half of page 4. The chord progression charts can be found on pages 6 and 7 of the handout. Watch the video lesson for details on how to approach review of each chord progression in the handout. This will include details regarding; chord voicings, fret locations, chord types and the various examples of rhythmic feel.

Music Reading

The Music Reading Review section in Lesson Ten contains a piece taken from Igor Stravinsky's Russian Ballet "Firebird," the piece provided from that ballet is, "Ronde Des Princesses." Develop the two sections of the melody up to the goal tempo (shown in the handout on page 8). Be mindful of the time signature shift into measure ten. Along with the time signature change there is also a key signature change as well. NOTE: Build the piece up to a skill level where the entire chart can be performed in time without stopping for any errors.
