Cryin’:  Intro Riff
Handout Song Section (1)

The Intro riff of Aerosmith’s, “Cryin” establishes a rock power-chord feel across a chord progression that is based within the key of, “G Minor.”

The riff begins with a pick-up phrase that leads into the key center’s tonic chord of a “G5” power-chord. The part is established with three repeats of the phrase. The Intro’s ending measure functions off of a build up from the tonic key center chord of, “G5,” over to an, “F5.”
