Music Theory:
Theory of the Major Scale Modes. Modal tonality. Scale degrees; Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian.
Music Notation:
Music-staff notation overview; Understanding the staff, Ledger lines and Clef notation.
Music Reading:
Introduction to reading with sharps and flats; Key signatures, Accidentals, Natural signs, Reminder symbols. Pieces in the keys of “G Major and F Major,” are included.
Fingerstyle Guitar:
Introduction to Celtic Folk-Fingerpicking technique. A piece in “G Major” “Celtic Step-Dance,” is included for practice.
Rhythm Studies:
Clap and play assignments with the Quarter-note triplet rhythmic duration. Introduction to the notation, meter and beat sub-division. Rhythm study exercises will help develop ability with the Quarter-note Triplet.
Fingerboard Harmony:
Working with Major and Minor “Pattern #3” chord voicings, (6th string root). Includes three chord progression practice studies. Rhythm guitar notation is given within each of the chord progression exercises.
