This lesson explores composing long guitar melodies. We branch out of the box patterns and into expanded coverage of the neck. A focus is placed on how "Along the Neck," scales will allow us to make longer guitar melodies and more lengthy guitar runs. The examples focus on increasing the span across multiple scale patterns, crossing several fingerboard positions.

This lesson contains several exercises for learning to play in the Funky Blues style. We'll begin the lesson from a pop-music stand-point to develop the 16th-note groove. Then, we'll progress to adding; Major and Minor Blues scales, extended and altered chords, as well as, the funky "string snap," technique.

This lesson places the focus upon our major modes. Next to the basic major scale (Ionian mode), Lydian and Mixolydian are the other modes from major tonality. in the lesson we begin with some modal music theory. After that, we head to the guitar and jam on a few ideas covering both harmony and melody concepts.

This lesson involves learning how to achieve a quick recall for a chords fretted layout, how fingering patterns can be approached in music, and how the finger placement will be performed (in the specific order and sequence) for each move from one chord pattern into another during a song.
