This video lesson covers the details of improvising using chord tones when soloing over jazz changes. The first section of the video explains how players can learn how to locate chord tones on the fingerboard. The handout covers practice tips players can apply to develop a solid understanding of chord tone locations on the guitar fingerboard.
The second part of the video works through three (3) guitar licks covering basic chord tone targeting of the seventh chords; Root, 3rd, 5th and 7th degrees. Lick examples introduce to the use of diminished scale along with targeting the extensions of 9, 11, and 13.
