Superimposed Scales and Polytonality
The layering of two independent scales at once creates a very unique sound. The musical color of which only works for certain styles of music. Jazz, Progressive Rock and Fusion tend to employ these sounds most often. However, many classical pieces use this interesting polytonal sound as well.
